I realized that I was discoursing about personal topics and that I was attempting to link these very personal reflections, concerns and thoughts to my surroundings somehow. In other words, while as a person living in Egypt I am of course influenced by the political and social circumstances, I was interested in tackling these very subjects from a very personal perspective.”
This artistic philosophy dictated that my work would always tug at the idea of ‘disorder’; any defect or deviation from what is normal or ordinary – whether as a personal occurrence, a social happenstance or a political event.
“This is the kind of artwork people do not find a difficulty believing; raw artistic productions dealing with some sort of disorder. In other words, a specific event must have unfolded in the artist’s life, inciting them to communicate its impact on them and their own reflections on it through a work of art.
